Step 1: Preparing Offline package
Step 2: Applying Offline package
Auto-update is being used to deliver software enhancements,
and yearly software upgrade which includes NAACCR version upgrade to end-users.
CDC, and State Cancer Registry spent so much time on
delivering updated product to end-users in the last several years. The old
method required lots of manual method which is not easy to follow for general
users. But this guided Auto-update
method is very user friend and it takes care of required steps behind the
scene.
Auto-update can be performed in two different modes
1) Online Auto-update
2) Offline Auto-update
Online
Auto-update may not work
for some user because of the following reason(s).
1.
Proxy Server blocks the URL where Abstract Plus Online
Auto-update downloads required files (Package) from CDC Server
2.
Websense Security program blocks the URL where Abstract
Plus Online Auto-update downloads required files (Package) from CDC Server
3.
Anti-Virus program removes downloaded files since it falsely
identifies as virus activities during Auto-update
4.
Download issue (Time out issue): If you don’t have proper bandwidth and Offline
Packet is too big, then automated download which occurs behind the scene will
fail. You will need to manually download that packet.
In order to get over issue stated above, we have
created Offline Auto-update feature with Abstract Plus version 3.3 or newer.
Offline Auto-update is used for both (1) Applying Patches (2) Upgrading Abstract Plus from one
version to new one.
You would take the almost the same steps for both purposes
