Notices for Data Users, User Cautions and Future Updates 2000 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) March 28, 2002 ----------------------------------------------------------------- 2000 Core Files: The 2000 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) includes the same core files as the 1999 NHIS, with the following exceptions: -- instead of separate Injury Episode and Poison Episode files, there is now a combined Injury/Poison Episode file -- the Injury Verbatim file becomes the Injury/Poison Verbatim file Beginning in data year 2000, NHIS implemented hot deck imputation of the race and ethnicity variables; these new variables' names have been changed and all end in _I. The race and ethnicity changes are discussed in greater detail in Appendix II of the Survey Description Document. 2000 Supplemental Information: Added to the end of the 2000 Sample Adult file is the Cancer Control Module.
