Instruction Manual Part 2g Data Entry Instructions for the Mortality Medical Indexing, Classification, and Retrieval System The basic purpose of this manual is to document the instructions for machine entry of selected data from the demographic portion of a death certificate and for interpreting, standardizing, and entering the information reported in the Medical Certification Section into machine acceptable language. It is to be used in conjunction with the MICAR dictionary and the special rules for a given State. Special rules describe certificate format peculiarities that are unique to each State along with any special rules for handling these peculiarities in the coding process. Use of this manual requires that operators be knowledgeable in anatomy and medical terminology. The Instruction Manual is comprised of a single Wordperfect file that has been compressed into the file 2GMANUAL.ZIP (414,857 bytes).
